Many of us are familiar with the concept of Adam and Eve, and their consumption of an apple from the Tree Of Knowledge & Evil in the heavenly Garden of Eden: an act which caused their expulsion from said haven. Now, these earrings do not serve to fulfill any higher end objectives save the meeting of our weekly Etsy theme challenge deadline.
Just felt I should lay that down from the onset :)
The theme this time around was Tree. I confess to being utterly stumped at first. Like, what the h*** am I going to make with this theme??
Finally I settled on two options, i.e., Thor's Oak or The Tree Of Knowledge Of Good & Evil. The former held more potential, seriously, but the latter was just too saucy to pass up!!
So here you have it, my rendition of what could've transpired that fateful day in the Garden of Eden. And yes, those luscious Smooth Red Coral Teardrops ARE meant to echo that precise same apple with which Eve sealed hers and Adam's fate. Only my earrings show two apples because one would be way too lonely and I just couldn't bear the thought of a lonely apple.
I digress.
The branches and stems are shaped by hand from sturdy Copper and then wrapped over with finer Copper Wire. From these dangle the most impressive Emerald Teardrops I have EVER come across!!! These beauties are a HUGE 0.8" tall (that's like 20mm), are superbly faceted and weigh a stunning 26 Carats in totality!!! Slightly further up, smaller leaves play host to a loop of mini Peridot Rondelles, the play of colors being intentional. You know, dark vs light, good vs evil et all.
Everything you see in An Apple From The Tree Of Knowledge Of Good & Evil was made by hand, right up to those super comfy ear hooks.
In all, over 17ft of Copper wire went into the making of these earrings, and quite a number of sore fingers too :D An Apple From The Tree Of Knowledge Of Good & Evil (I have to start coming up with shorter names) measures approximately 3" drop and is guaranteed to be as lightweight, sleek and pretty as you see before your screen.
