Lyocell (Tencel®) is a natural fibre derived from dissolving wood pulp cellulose from the eucalyptus tree. Lyocell is soft and smooth on skin, breathable, naturally wrinkle-resistant and most importantly - environmentally sustainable. Lyocell is manufactured in a ‘closed loop’ process using a non-toxic solvent - about 99 percent of the solvent is recovered and recycled, what is not is broken down in water treatment plants. This process uses just 1 percent of the total amount of water required to manufacture conventional cotton. No manufacturing process is 100 percent environmentally sustainable; however, just as nothing is perfect, we can still make a difference.
