Over the past two seasons we’ve seen everything from bold shoulders to studded accessories. Despite the massive 80’s comeback, minimalism is back in a big way and it’s bolder than ever.

After a year full of chic recessionistas looking to sustain their style, in a not so favorable economy, clean lines seem more appealing than ever. Fashion houses such as Akris, Celine and Givenchy gave us a new take on minimalism this season with collections that featured leather and architecturally sound pieces.

While minimalism may seem boring, it really doesn’t have to be. Think of it as ultra-wearable classics with a modern spin.  Designers have a knack for making classic shapes interesting with asymmetrical shapes, structure and texture. Such as the gorgeous pieces at Bruno Pieters that graced the runway this season.

New age minimalism isn’t about being basic it’s about being sleek, sexy and sophisticated and it leaves something to be admired. Plus, if the clothes are simple your killer shoes can do all the talking!
