Introducing First Lady Fashions

The First Lady brand ethos is "Making the best of what we've been given."
I believe the art of dressing has been lost over the last 2 decades. There are endless fashion magazines and retailers telling us how to dress and which trends are in. Fashion has become a tiring rat race of "it bags", ridiculously high heels and far too tight skinny jeans. A high percentage of girls are rely on celebrities for their fashion direction, and even wear trends which dont suit them to maintain some kind of facade.
After working for a high profile fast fashion retailer for several years, I have witnessed first hand a high turnover of trends. Bollywood, Boho, Punk, New Romantic I've seen and worn them all. The lifeline of high street clothing has decreased, with some trends lasting merely a few weeks. With retailers such as Primark producing large quantities of cheap clothing "What happens to all of the items we throw away?" The answer is landfill. What a waste!
Fashion seems to have become so disposable, predictable and consumers so greedy. The concept of First Lady is to source existing clothing, particularly vintage and rework, revive then remake them into something fresh and new. Some pieces are left in their original vintage state, but all garments are in excellent wearable condition.
I initially had a negative opinion of vintage clothing and saw it as smelly old clothes. However, shopping for vintage is a fun experience and knowing your dress had a previous life and owner is somewhat intriguing. Vintage pieces are original and individual and you can almost be certain you wont see 5 other girls with your dress on. The items are classic and timeless and have been carefully crafted to last, which is why Vintage fashion is seeing a massive revival amongst the stylish.
The First Lady is a fashion concious female who is confident and intelligent. She is aware of social and economical issues and is fun with her approach to fashion. She knows her style but isn't afraid to try new things, she doesn't mind spending a bit more for something she really likes.
"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewellery and fine clothes. Instead it should be that of your inner self......" 1 Peter 3:3
The brand is very new so I'd love to receive your feedback, good or bad.
Thank you, Laura Patrick- First Lady
