About the Seller
Threadmaker offers a whimsical array of chiffons and pastels that will brighten any day. They also offer fashion through just about every decade with dresses inspired by styles from the 40s, 50s, and 60s!
What is your inspiration for designs that are being featured?
ThreadMaker is all about unique, feminine designs with a vintage twist. Inspiration behind the selection of designs comes from East London, which is the destination for vintage fashion in the UK. It’s also the home of famous fashion markets such as Spitalfields where many young fashion designers start out. It’s a quirky, vibrant area and somewhere I love to hang out.
What has prepared you to enter the world as a fashion designer?
After leaving school and travelling the world I decided that I wanted to follow my passion and work in the fashion industry. I studied fashion marketing at university and landed an internship with an international luxury designer. I learned a lot and had a lot of fun, but I always knew that I wanted to work for myself, so that’s what I did. It’s hard work but so rewarding. Every day presents a new challenge and I’m learning all the time. I’d recommend following your dream to anyone.
Describe your style:
Boho with an edgy twist.
Your 3 wardrobe staples:
Pleated maxi skirt, spaghetti strap top and aviator sunglasses.
Favorite fashion decade:
Definitely the 60s! Smokey eyes and big hair, platform shoes and babydoll dresses, floaty maxi dresses and psychedelic prints… it was an amazing era for fashion, and it still has such a strong influence on fashion today. My Mum held on to quite a few of her clothes and accessories from the sixties and I’m always on her case to borrow them, they’re amazing!
What are you most excited to wear this season?
I’m loving all the brights that are around at the moment! My favourite item in my wardrobe is a hot pink maxi skirt which looks great teamed with clashing brights.
One thing you couldn't live without:
In terms of fashion, I couldn’t live without my box of vintage jewellery. I’ve built up quite a collection over the years, and I use it to transform outfits from dull to delicious. If we’re not talking fashion, I couldn’t live without cheese or my bed.
Favorite Celebrity Fashion Icon:
I have a style crush on Olivia Palermo, I love the combinations she puts together. I also love Nicole Richie’s relaxed boho style, she always looks so effortlessly chic.
Perfect night on the town outfit:
I’m loving nude at the moment, so I’d team an oversized sheer nude top with skinny black pants, fierce heels, loose wavy hair and a statement cuff.
What do you wish people understood about being in the fashion industry?
It’s not all glamour!
