Spring and Summer Brights!
April 13, 2010 at 04:09 PM
With spring and summer right around the corner, it’s time to ditch the droll winter shades and embrace bright colors! This is the time to move your dark and dreary pieces towards the back of the closet and replace them with turquoise and tangerine.
Now that the words “lay off” and “foreclosure” are a daily mantra, our moods need a little brightening. So, why not lighten things up by adding a little spice to your wardrobe?
Sapphire blue, verdant green, lemony yellow, tomato red, and watermelon pink are all flooding the runways. Right now, fashion is bold and so are the colors. If you don’t feel confident enough to dress in bright fuchsia or lime green, I say it’s time to muster up the courage to try out the trends.
But if you’re nervous about dressing from head to toe in wild violet or cobalt blue, you can always find bright colored accessories to breathe some life into that neutral outfit. Try adding a crimson red belt to that soft blue dress, or wear turquoise peep-toe heels paired with that black cocktail dress.
Take any black and white patterned clothing up a notch by pairing it with a bright colored clutch, shoes and a striking cuff bracelet.
You can make bright colors transition into fall by pairing them with black, gray, and neutral clothing and accessories. Take a sunshine yellow dress and pair it with a fitted black blazer and heels for an October day at the office. Wear your electric blue silk blouse with a black or winter white suit.
Don’t let spring pass you by without enjoying a night in a bubblegum pink one shoulder dress, or a persimmon colored halter tank ensemble!
New Years Fitness Fashion!
January 12, 2010 at 03:47 PM
As the New Year begins, many of us will put down the holiday cookies and commit to a healthier lifestyle. A new exercise regimen (one that is more rigorous than just getting up from the couch for more snacks) will be high on many 2010 resolution lists. Of course, with every great workout, there should be a great outfit. You burn more calories that way, at least that's my belief...
When searching for the perfect exercise outfit, fabric is an important factor. You want fabric that is comfortable and not too restrictive. Cotton blends are usually the best option.
Cotton with supplex is great because it dries 40 percent faster than cotton or lycra alone. When supplex is blended with cotton, it makes the garment soft and still able to remove moisture from your body. If you find a garment made up of a lycra/supplex/cottom combination it has the same softness of cotton and the nonabsorbent qualities of supplex, but the lycra offers even more flexibility, stretch and support.
Especially for practicing yoga, you want to look for clothes that move with your body but also offer enough flexibility and enough coverage to allow you to make every position without overexposing yourself. Any cotton blend would work, but many yoga practicers are opting for clothing made of hemp. The hemp fiber offers durability, absorbency, and natural antimicrobial properties. Another benefit with hemp clothing is that it virtually lasts forever and becomes softer after each washing.
Several designers are now making yoga pants with a reversible band across the waist – folded one way the pants will have a graphic design, but can easily be turned inside to make the pants all black. These are the perfect pants to go with any and all of your exercise tops. And of course, yoga pants can be worn for any other activity or workout at the gym.
It is also said that bright colors can affect your mood and energy level, so if you see an exercise top in neon pink – go for it!
The New Year is here, so as soon as you find your dream workout clothes, it's time to work up a sweat. No excuses!
Stylish Winter Wear!!
January 05, 2010 at 12:42 PM
People may think I’m foolish declaring cold weather wonderful! I love that it gives me an excuse to wear a new stylish coat. And buying a glamorous coat is definitely excusable because it will be an investment piece that will be used for several seasons.
When searching for your new wardrobe addition, warm neutral shades like creamy taupe, black and iron gray promise to add versatility to your wardrobe. You can also try a dark blue or deep plum color, and classic winter white will always be in style. Feel free to flaunt your more daring side by bringing home a bright red satin coat.
Choose a coat that you love, with the special details that will showcase your own personal taste.
Strong shoulders are seen on many coats this winter, with extra padded shoulders making a big statement, along with multiple buttons, graceful ruffles and oversized collars. And the trench coat has never been more popular, particularly in unusual colors and fabrics.
Fur is definitely popular this season. If you're against wearing real fur, the faux fur pieces have never looked better and will keep you just as warm without harming any precious, furry friends. Authentic looking faux furs are available in nearly every "animal" you can imagine, so go ahead and find one or two you want to adopt.
Leather was hot in fall and has carried into the colder winter months. A plus with leather is it will not only keep you warm, but it can be worn on rainy days unlike other fabrics or furs. If you don't already own a
go-to black leather coat or jacket, there is a wide selection available right now.
Plaids and houndstooth checks are flirty and fun, but with a sophisticated edge. I recommend that every girl own at least one coat in a tweed, plaid or houndstooth print - it will still be an investment piece that can blend with many outfits, at the same time add attitude to your plain LBDs or black pencil skirts.
And, in any color, belted coats with 3 quarter sleeves would be a perfect find right now, especially paired with another trend – long leather gloves.
Be sure to look for the perfect scraf to coordinate with your fashionable winter looks. Now is the time to bundle up in your new coat, cause “baby, its cold outside”.

New Years Eve Glamour
December 29, 2009 at 07:31 AM
Michelle Obama has been credited with the continuation of one-shouldered gowns, wearing her captivating Jason Wu dress to the Inaugural Ball, and that trend has carried on throughout the year and right up into New Year's Eve styles. One-shoulder dresses and ruffled silhouettes are still hot for New Year's Eve, along with your traditional figure-hugging cocktail dress.
When ringing in the New Year, I recommend wearing sequins or sparkles, because if there is one day of the year that warrants a ridiculous amount of sparkle it is December 31st. Not that we girls need any excuse to shine, but if you need to make a case for wearing enough glitter to light up a runway at LAX, just remind everyone that it's New Year's Eve.
If you insist on staying semi-casual, jazz up your look with a pair of dark denim jeans, a white v-neck tee shirt and a silver, sequined three-quarter sleeve blazer with sparkly heels. Actually, the sparkly blazer is one of the holiday season’s must-haves.
For dresses, shimmering bronze and flashy silver are still the hottest New Year's Eve dresses. A soft champagne color would also be a perfect choice and great with any skin color.
This doesn't mean that metallics need to take center stage on New Year's Eve. You can wear black just as freely. But since it is a glamorous holiday, I would suggest adding
some sparkle to that LBD with a shimmering accessory. Try a perfect pair of silver satin peep toe heels with an oversized bow cascading over the opening of the shoe, or a silver sequined clutch purse.
Royal blue, purple, fuchsia and pink have even been added to the typical winter holiday palette of silver, gray, gold and cream, leaving you with enough freedom to find your own holiday color. It's your holiday, so find a color and style that will make you shine.
This is also the night to bring out your most expensive jacket or (faux) fur wrap with your splashiest jewelry. Make your lips pop in a red or berry shade and add some volume to your hair with a holding mousse and a few curlers.
New Year's Eve is definitely one of those special nights of the year when you can go totally glam without having to explain yourself. So find your perfect dress and smile. Cheers!
Jewel Embellished Dresses
December 23, 2009 at 08:58 AM
This season, jewels are being invited to show up in more than just your jewelry. From necklines encrusted with jewels to sparkly embellished heels, the dazzling shimmer of gems is covering clothes and accessories with perfect grace and style.
Sparkles have been liberated - no longer waiting in lonely anticipation of evening gowns and special occasions. We’re seeing precious gemstones, glass and crystals trimming jackets, dresses, shoes and handbags in an array of colors and textures.
Best of all, these decorative details can give your casual wear a more luxurious feel and spice up your evening attire with extra glamour and sophistication.
Silk camisoles are now adorned with ornate necklines, some even attached to ribbons that can detach from the top and be worn with other outfits.
When you’re wearing a top that has a heavily decorated neckline you don’t have to worry about pairing it with a necklace. Bear in mind, the jewel embellished trend works best when wearing one piece at a time.
If you own a top covered in jewels, it’s perfect! Just wear it with more subtle pieces like a pair of black fitted pants or leggings and a matching cardigan. This will draw more attention to the gems without overpowering your overall statement.
The only thing that can make a pair of heels better is some added sparkle. Oversized gems attached to the straps or jeweled patterns clustered on the back of the heel can turn a dull pair of shoes into a ray of sunshine.
Sequins are on the list when searching for embellished clothing. Try a sequin-decorated cardigan with your favorite denim and ballet flats, or a sequined tunic with a pair of leggings and some sleek heels.
Whether you choose a top or tank lined with jewels, a pair of heels splashed with gemstones or a dress that shimmers with crystals, you can watch your new jewel embellished pieces dance under the light while you enjoy every elegant minute.
It’s your time to shine. Flaunt your bejeweled clothing – in any style and at all times of the day!
