Andrea Rosenfeld

Andrea Rosenfeld is the creator behind Kavanah Healing Jewelry. With a background in fashion that began while studying at Fashion Institute of Technology, she continued on to Perry Ellis Portfolio, later worked for Isaac Mizrahi, and then, after marriage and three children, decided to leave the corporate world behind and craft her own jewelry.

Right now, Andrea's specialty is designing and making healing jewelry designs using cleansed stones, silver and exotic woods. When designing jewelry that is categorized as having an earthy feel, she strives for pieces that will excite the wearer and change their mood. “I've been told that it's very American Indian but I tend to liken it to earthy - flowing - textural. I use negative space in my work and enjoy a piece that ebbs and moves.”

Andrea credits her children for her youthful energy, even while designing pieces. “I have three children. I am a child at heart and I make time for them. They help keep my mind young and active.”

She also feels that experiencing childbirth has helped to inspire creativity within herself. “I do draw parallels between creating art and birthing children. In both instances, a woman will travel to another plane. She loses herself so that she can become something more than what her body will allow her to be at that moment.”

Andrea draws a relation between creating and spirituality, and not just because she uses healing stones in her collections. “Besides the fact that I use healing stones which directly relate to spirituality and the metaphysical world, just the ACT of creating, making something with ones hands is a spiritual process.”

When designing her jewelry, Andrea never repeats herself, but instead, she goes where the stone takes her. “Actually, I like to look backwards, sometimes, to past designs. I don't repeat but I may find that "feel" or technique and reuse it somewhere else … I usually just enter this dreamy state and feel. When I come out I have a vision - or I don't and try again later!”

While creating her healing jewelry, she has a certain customer in mind: “Someone brave, independent, self-assured. Someone who appreciates art and who collects art. Someone who can see what I see when they look at my work.” Andrea is a featured UsTrendy designer, where you can view her blog and portfolio.
