Nikolo Bertok was born in Bratislava, Slovakia. He became fascinated with fashion design as a very young child, when he would see his mom “sewing amazing clothes.” He was fascinated by her sewing machine, and couldn’t wait to try to operate it. By the time he was 16, he was already a serious fashion designer, and within a year he single handedly produced his first fashion show – a thirty-piece collection - in an incredible club venue.

Although he continues to study design at London University, his design label, Nikolo Bertok has already become a force in the fashion world. His early successes have allowed him to collaborate on fashion photo shoots for magazines, fashion shows and events and charity projects.

Usually I do two basic collections in a year; at the moment Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer. Besides that I do one or two collections of high style evening dresses.” Nikolo also provides personal design services to some of his clients, and he is currently working on a ready-to-wear line. He has become well known for his electrifying evening gown designs, which are dramatic and very unique. Bertok is a featured designer at UsTrendy, where you can see his blogs and portfolio.

Nikolo’s fashion addiction is detail; he would like to see a return of haute couture to fashion design, and he believes that it will happen. He thinks that every woman should own a pair of “very high heeled shoes.” His favorite shopping venue is Liberty of London.

Nicolo Bertok believes that the most difficult obstacle for an aspiring fashion designer is to learn to be persistent, despite the tremendous amount of stress, pressure and work. His advice to new designers is to “be passionate about what you are doing or what you want. Be desirable, be creative, be innovative, be unlimited and feel good about it; that’s very important.” At his relatively young age, Nikolo Bertok is the undeniably successful result of his own advice.
